Why this role
Intro to Equitas
At Equitas we are building interview software to help companies be representative of the communities they serve. The reason we started Equitas was to bring fairness to hiring and help companies build diverse teams. If this sounds interesting please keep reading no matter who you are or what your background is, as we always encourage people from any background to apply to our roles and are trying to build a diverse team right from the start.
Our startup is based in the Ormeau Baths in Belfast and Google Startup Campus in London but since Covid-19 we are 100% remote. We have recently secured funding and are expanding our team.
We like to hire on ability, attitude and aptitude with a big emphasis on potential rather than just past experience. Education and qualifications are great but they are not the most important aspect for us, we want someone who buys into our mission, likes a massive challenge and wants to learn and grow as we build and scale a business together.
The role
We are looking for a full-stack JavaScript engineer who is passionate about HR technology and diversity and inclusion. As one of our early in-house developers, you will have a lot of influence over the product roadmap and direction. You will be a key part of a small, flexible startup team and your opinion and input alongside customer insights will be what helps us build a world-class product. You won’t be expected to have all the answers from day one but you will be working on some amazing projects that will make a difference.
Exciting projects you will be working on:
What you will need to succeed:
Nice to haves:
Don’t worry if you don’t have any of the nice to haves, as long as you are willing to learn and develop new skills, please still apply. We are still learning as we grow our business.
We love to see applications from people who are motivated, hardworking, creative and enjoy building amazing products that change the lives of their users.
How we would work together
Over the last 9 months we have been working 100% remote. We do still love to socialise as a team so once things go back to normal after Covid-19 if you prefer being based in one of our co-working spaces that is also absolutely fine. We split our time between Belfast and London so there will always be a mix between working autonomously and together.
We have some established tools that we use but this is not a definitive list, or set in stone. We host code on Gitlab and use Clubhouse as a project management tool. Communications are asynchronous-first via Slack, Email and Whereby.
You would be working closely with our co-founding team and our current development team based in North East England collaborating on some of the projects mentioned above. Being one of our first hires you will definitely be contributing to the culture we build and working practices we are putting in place at Equitas.
Benefits
We are committed to diversity and inclusion from the outset so part of the screening process will be completely anonymous. This is to try and minimise bias in the process. The four steps to our application process are:
