Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/Rails)

Stora·Belfast / Remote·£60K - £65K

Description

At Stora we’re building the operating system for self storage. In the process, we’re revolutionising how a global industry works by optimising and automating how these businesses function. As a result, operators worldwide are earning more, while doing less, and their customers are getting a best in class self storage experience.

📖 The Story So Far

🦄 Where We’re Going Next

We feel like we’ve barely gotten started and the true innovation of Stora is yet to come. To help achieve our goals, we’re on the hunt for great talent to join our product team.

👩‍💻 The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing dev team. You’ll focus on our core platform (a Rails app with sprinklings of Stimulus JS), assisting in the delivery of our roadmap, helping to create “the Shopify of Self Storage”.

If you join us, you’ll be an early team member in helping shape:

  1. Our company culture
  2. Our product practices
  3. The direction and focus of our products

About You

If you’re a Ruby developer with experience across the stack, who doesn’t mind trying their hand at anything then you’ll fit in perfectly.

Generally, we work best with self-starting team players. People who are happy to take the reins and see a piece of work through to completion. We’re always there to help if needs be.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Shaping the work required for upcoming features
  • Building new features
  • Enhancing existing features
  • Writing tests and fixing bugs
  • Reviewing pull requests

Day to day you’ll be working with:

  • Rails 6.1
  • PostgreSQL
  • Stimulus, Stimulus Reflex and Turbo
  • ViewComponents, Sass and BEM
  • Sidekiq
  • Stripe Connect
  • Heroku

We’re committed to creating a diverse environment. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, genetics, national origin, disability, age or any other grounds.

Ideally, you’ll be based in the UK but we will consider applicants from further afield.

💸 Money

The starting salary on offer is £60-65k.

💻 Interview Process

Lightweight is the name of the game here.

  1. A chat (IRL would be nice, but online if that’s not possible) with a few of our Engineers about your coding background. Nothing too crazy - we just want to get a feel for your experience and an idea of how you think you may be able to help us build the next phases of Stora.
  2. A do-at-home project that should take no more than four hours.
  3. To finish, an informal call with our CEO Gavin to talk about money and stuff like that.

One more thing...want to ask us a question?

We'd like to invite you to get to know our company, the people behind it, and how we work. That's why on Thursday 9th December our product team is going to record a roundtable discussion about just that. And we'd love to be answering your questions. You can use this form to ask anonymously.

Thanks!
